Help make H.E.R.O. - Metamorphosis FREE on Amazon!

Hello!

I'm looking for help in making my full novel, H.E.R.O. - Metamorphosis, free on Amazon at all times!  It just takes a few clicks, if you're willing:

1.  Right-click on this link to the Barnes & Noble store and choose COPY:  http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/hero-metamorphosis-kevin-rau/1104882298?ean=2940044793774
(You can actually do this twice if you are willing, using http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/h.e.r.o.-metamorphosis/id529248823?mt=11 the second time.  If you do - double thanks!)

2.  Click on this link, to bring up the product page on Amazon (you may have to log onto y
our account at Amazon, but you aren't buying anything here):  http://www.amazon.com/H-E-R-O-Metamorphosis-ebook/dp/B005GM3PV8/ref=la_B007EHD6US_1_3_title_1_kin?ie=UTF8&qid=1346865506&sr=1-3

3.  On that Amazon page, if you scroll down a short amount, you'll see the link to "tell us about a lower price."
4.  Then, click Website (Online), and fill in as marked below:

5.  After Pasting the link, filling in 0.00 in the Price and Shipping cost, just click Submit feedback, and you're done!

6.  Thank you very much!  You're helping readers to be able to buy the book for free if enough of us prompt Amazon to match Barnes and Noble's price!

I appreciate the help!

By the way, the e-book is also free (already) at iTunes.com, Smashwords.com, and DriveThruRPG.com.  If you would like to get more information on the H.E.R.O. series of superhero novels, or view the pictures of the superheroes, please visit http://www.kevinrau.com or http://www.facebook.com/herobooks (you do NOT need a Facebook account to check out this page, only if you want to leave comments or chat).

Again, thank you all!

Kevin Rau

  1. I've done this for you at Amazon.co.uk using Smashwords as the link.

I wonder just how many reports it takes to get Amazon to change the price? I've been asking people to do this for one of our books which is free everywhere but Amazon who insist on it being $1.22

  2. John, Amazon won't price match Smashwords. I've only heard of them price matching Barnes and Noble and iTunes. All the others are too small to be considered "serious competitors" at this time. Thanks for helping out!

  3. Done as you asked, Kevin.

I hope it works for you, as I plan to do the same next month :-)

  4. Jambalian - do you plan to make your book permanently (or at the very least loooong term) free, or do you plan to do a few free days?

I ask because the above will generally only work for a long term price change, and that's *if* Amazon even deigns to match the price. (It's been a full day, and they haven't done it yet... So are they ignoring all the requests so far? Or do they require some minimum number of "tell us about a lower price" notifications before they'll do it? Who knows...)

It took about 2 weeks for Smashwords to distribute the free version of the book to Barnes & Noble. I'm hoping Amazon matches the price soon(ish), and will then just leave it permanently free being as I have an entire series, and don't mind gifting an entire novel to readers.

I've heard horror stories where people do a quickie price change on another online ebook store, and well after the fact Amazon price matches that temporary sale, and getting them to undo that change is a real pain. Fortunately, that's not what I'm doing, but they certainly don't jump at doing the price match in the first place.

  6. Done.
By the way, the quickest way to get Amazon to price-match seems to be via Kobo. When I have a book free on Kobo, Amazon immediately makes it free as well ... and I don't even have to ask anyone to to report it.
It was kind of funny. I made "The Devil Eats Here" (a multi-author short story collection) temporarily free on Kobo, and tweeted "Free only for Kobo: The Devil Eats Here http://buff.ly/SYQjvw"
Within a few hours, and without any action from me, it was also free on Amazon.com http://buff.ly/P36lE6
I wonder what did it. Does Amazon scour Kobo for lower prices? Or does Amazon pay attention to any tweets mentioning competitors?
However, there's a mystery attached: The Devil Eats here is free only on Amazon.com, not on Amazon.co.uk - and several Amazon.com customers report that when they look it up, it isn't free for them.
    Puzzling.
Anyway, I've reported yours as requested. Let's hope it helps.

  7. Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I'll just sum it up what I had written and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I'm still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips for inexperienced blog writers? I'd certainly appreciate it.
